This is Horstman’s all new HDC-5, two cycle sprint clutch. We have done quite a bit of testing on this clutch and had excellent results with durability and race wins. One of our tests was a one hour endurance race ran at Midstate Kart Club. We ran the clutch for one hour solid (106 laps) at weights of over 380 lbs. The clutch was stalling at the same speed on the last lap as it was on the first lap. We were very impressed to say the least. After the race was over we disassembled the clutch completely to find virtually no wear or warpage. We felt that if the clutch could hold up at those weights for that amount of time, this clutch will definitely be great for our normal sprint racing. We are using the two disk version for all Sr. SSX classes and the one disk for Jr. applications. Don’t be afraid of using the two disk version for Jr. 2 applications where the weight is at 305. We ran the clutch for a test in Junior Supercan and ended up winning for the day.
In closing, I think it is obvious that the racers and staff at Laukaitis Racing believe that Horstman has definitely built a winner with the HDC-5, not just another clutch to outdate their existing clutches. This clutches totally new design is proven and will provide the average racer with a dry clutch that will outperform and outlast the competition. If reliability and performance is what you are looking for, look no farther than the HDC-5.
