2008 Worldview Student Conference will be held July 7 - 12 for 10th graders through college age at Christopher Newport University. This conference will help covenant youth grow deeper in their Christian walk and help build a comprehensive Biblical worldview. Early registration deadline is June 1, and general registration deadline is June 8. Sign up early as space is limited. All conference details are here. Brochures are available in the Commons area and here. Congratulations Kim Family! A rose has been placed on the piano in celebration of the birth of Madelyn Isabelle Kim, who joined the family at 1:15 a.m. April 29th; she weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 21 3/4” long. Both she and Danielle are doing great. Men's Group Meeting -- All men are invited to attend this coming Saturday’s meeting – May 10th from 8-9:00 a.m. in the CCS lunch room. The topic will be the “Discipline of Leadership” from the book, Disciplines of a Godly Man. Continental breakfast will be provided. See Dave Mericle with questions. Teen WIC -- Saturday, May 10th at 9:30 a.m., all teen girls ages 13-18 are welcome to the study of Polished Cornerstones. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Marchese. Annual Church Work Day -- Saturday, May 10th; we have a lot to do so please come out. There will be a sign-up sheet coming around today during Sunday School. Family Night -- May 31st. Rain or Shine. Come to CRPC for Line Dancing/Square Dancing at 4:30 p.m. and pizza, salad and dessert at 6:30 p.m. Cost - $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. Max of $25/family. Please bring lawn chairs and blankets. Questions – call Cathi Pope. Gideon Ministry Opportunity -- Men, would you like to know more about involvement in the Gideon’s ministry? There will be dinners in Newport News and Hampton May 12 &13 to explain this work. Please speak with Pete Hurst if you are interested. Ministry Opportunity Survey – A recent bulletin contained an insert of opportunities to serve for youth in VBS, adults as VBS leaders, tutoring, and teaching English as a second language to those in our community who need to learn English. All of these are evangelistic opportunities. Extra copies of the survey form are on the table in the Commons and if you want to complete one, please place it in the box provided. The CRPC Photo Board is being updated! If you do not have a picture of your family on the board or you would like a new picture please see Paula Krasowski. She will be available after the Sunday school hour to take pictures at the front of the auditorium. You may also submit a 4x6 family picture instead of having a picture taken. CRPC's Calvary Herald online newsletter is currently featuring 4 new book reviews by Byron Snapp: 1) When Sinners Say “I Do”: Discovering the Power of the Gospel for Marriage by Dave Harvey; 2) The Man of Sin: Uncovering the Truth About the Antichrist by Kim Riddlebarger; 3) John Williamson Nevin: High Church Calvinist by D.G. Hart; 4) Let Christ Be Magnified: Calvin’s Teaching for Today by J.H. Merle D’ Aubigne. Many other articles and book reviews are available as well, and are listed by topic or by date. These are available on www.calvaryherald.com. If you would like a paper copy, please contact the church office. Teachers Needed for CCS -- Please be in prayer that God will bring dedicated teachers for CCS for 2008-2009. Applications are being accepted for third and fifth grade full-time positions. Please see Lori Rogers or Linda Sawanowich if you have questions. Applications are located on the bottom shelf of the school table or may be downloaded from the school website: www.calvaryclassical.org. CCS SCRIP Orders -- due in the school office by noon May 12th. Order forms are available on the school table in the Commons. For further information please call Tammy Shenk Mission Opportunity -- Katie Griffin will be interning through Mission to the World in Gainesville, Georgia, this summer assisting Westminster PCA church with day camps for Hispanic children. For more information about the trip and how you can be involved, see Bill or Linda Griffin, or pick up a copy of her information letter in the Commons. Adult Sunday School Classes March Through May -- "The Life of David" is being taught by Dan Ridenour in the auditorium and "What We Believe and Why" is being taught by Dan Gill in the lunch room. Facilities Use Request Reminder -- When use of the church building or grounds is needed, to avoid conflict or confusion, please fill out a Facilities Use Request Form. To insure availability, submit your form early and have it approved by your deacon. If your request is repetitive, the deacons ask that you submit your requests annually. The forms, including instructions, are located in the secretary's office. |
